Volair celebrate a successful 12 months of Knowsley ‘Better Together’ funding

Whilst we know that the current COVID-19 situation means all leisure centre operators have had to temporarily close their facilities, it doesn’t take away from success stories in recent times.

Here is just one of those, courtesy of Volair in Knowsley.

“Volair Leisure Trust in Knowsley have benefitted from the Knowsley Better Together funding over the past 12 months to deliver activities in partnership with local sports clubs and organisations.

The Better Together initiative commissions community-led projects to support Knowsley Council’s key priorities, which includes maximising the contribution to health and wellbeing in the borough.

Through partnership work, Volair has delivered against this objective to provide a range of exciting sports and physical activity opportunities to engage residents of all ages and abilities. These have included Walking Football, Back to Netball, Junior Fitness activities for local secondary schools and access to coach education programmes to improve capacity in the clubs. Activities were designed to ensure sustainability and long-term open access to sessions.’”

We’re really looking forward to hearing about future success stories from our leisure centre operators in Merseyside when the COVID-19 situation is under control. In the meantime, we’ll be looking at ways that we can help them and the whole of the physical and sport sector across Merseyside, including providing information as we get it here.
