Schools and other relevant education or community providers  can secure a share of a £21m fund to establish satellite clubs – to meet gaps in provision and the demands of young people. This local funding is available over and above the funding already awarded to National Governing Bodies of Sport – who are also tasked with setting up satellite clubs as part of their Whole Sport Plans – but is only payable once, not annually, in order to help with set up costs of the club.

  • Locally, satellite clubs can receive a share in this provision for:
  • Payment of coaches
  • Volunteering programmes to run projects
  • Resources and Materials
  • Training/Education Costs
  • Hire of Facilities
  • Marketing/Publicity
  • Small items of Equipment
  • Transport

Merseyside Sports Partnership will be working closely with schools and colleges over the coming months to establish local demand and gaps in provision. We will then produce a plan for Sport England by Mid July which will cost out plans from September 2013. We will be working closely with National Governing Bodies, potentially to pool resources and share information on how best to apply this funding. Local clubs and schools will receive information directly from us in due course with regards to the development and planning of this programme.
