NHS North West Games goes from strength to strength

The NHS North West Games is an annual series of events to encourage NHS employees to come together to take part in a series of fun and friendly inter-trust sport competitions.

Initiated by the Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust, the event first ran in 2011, but in 2015 the future of the event began to look uncertain and there was talk of shelving it. MSP was pleased to get the chance to step in and see what we could do to revitalise the event and make sure that the great work that had been done to get it started wasn’t lost.

We’re pleased to say that we’ve just finished helping deliver the last of this year’s events and can report a massive 626 people attended: that’s a 52% increase on 2018 and 153% increase from 2016 when MSP first came on board to help support the games.

We’re absolutely delighted to have been able to give so many people the chance to participate again this year. We’d like to say a huge thanks to the leads in each of the 20 Trusts who helped to organise and promote the events, as well as venue operator, Volair
