Sports Volunteering North West is an independent regional body specifically developed to effectively represent volunteers and the voluntary sector in sport and physical activity in the North West.

Constituted as a “not for profit” limited company with charitable status, the organisation was established in 2006 as a result of the North West  Federation of Sport and Recreation merging with  the North West Young Volunteers in Sport Programme.

The principle aims of Sports Volunteering North West are:

  • To be the leading voice for volunteers in sport and physical activity in the North West
  • To increase the quality and quantity of volunteers working in sport and physical activity
  • To widen access to volunteering for everyone
Members of the Merseyside Sports Council, who sit on the Sports Volunteering North West Board, ensure that the views and needs of sports volunteers in Merseyside are represented at all times.

The North West Young Volunteers in Sport Programme, which Merseyside Sport Partnership has delivered, is coordinated and financially supported by Sports Volunteering North West and has enabled young people involved in volunteering to be supported and there commitment and efforts recognised.

Visit the Sports Volunteering website for information to volunteer at events across the North West including opportunities in the build up to the 2012 Olympics.
