Mersey Cup 2017 to Get Under Way

Lancashire Cricket Board

The Mersey Cup T20 is a competition that will provide a challenging opportunity to many young players aged 16-19 from the wider Merseyside areas to play with and against players in their own age bands. The players involved will range from club based players to those that have been, and still are, involved with LCB county age group squads whilst there will also be some young overseas players involved across the squads including the 2017 Barbados Cricket Association Lord Gavron Scholarship players, Jadeja Edwards and Shakeem Clarke.

The competition this year will take place using both grounds at Sefton Park CC between Sunday 2nd and Thursday 6th July.

The squads, who will wear numbered coloured clothing, will play as ‘Mersey’ Outlaws, Sunrisers, Rapids, Warriors and All Stars. The tournament will be punctuated on Tuesday 4th July when there will be both a 20 overs and 40 overs fixture against Zimbabwe Rising Stars* with some players from Wellington School, Somerset being involved in the T20 game.
