London 2012: Inspiring Merseyside

Inspire Programme

London 2012’s Inspire programme will help bring the benefits of the 2012 Games to every part of the UK – giving millions the opportunity to participate as never before.  Non-commercial organisations delivering projects and events genuinely inspired by the London 2012 Games can apply to have them recognised through the Inspire programme.

Only the most accessible, participative, inspiring and stimulating projects and events will achieve the mark – across sport, culture, education, environment, volunteering and business skills. Projects and events recognised through the Inspire programme will be awarded the Inspire mark, part of London 2012’s brand family.

Who can apply?

Applications are open to non-commercial organisations who can demonstrate the ability to deliver the project or event and meet the outcomes identified in their application.

The Inspire mark will be awarded to specific projects and events which are:

  • Genuinely inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games
  • Well planned and managed
  • Fully funded from non-commercial sources and with no commercial association
  • Innovative and inspiring
  • Likely to achieve at least one of our key outcomes. For example, increased participation in grass roots sports

How can the Inspire mark be used?

Successful projects and events can, subject to licence and approval of artwork, use the Inspire mark on a range of marketing collateral. For example, the cover of a programme or brochure, a poster, and advert or a web-page.

The Inspire mark guidelines (see the 'Related publications' section on this page) form part of the licence agreement and give technical and practical information about use of the Inspire mark. These guidelines are available here for information only.

London 2012 Training Camps

In Merseyside there are 17 venues which have been listed in the guide as potential training camps and Oceania countries have already been using the 50 metre pool at Wavertree Sports Park as well as other Liverpool facilities.

The idea is, as teams train here to acclimatise to the weather, we provide them with competitive opportunities with local teams, local teams have the opportunity to experience training with them and young people will get the chance to meet athletes at the peak of their performance.
