Merseyside Community Youth Games

Merseyside Community Youth Games is designed to encourage those young people within the community who are seen as socially excluded to engage in sport and cultural activities.

The day is aimed at young people aged 8-16 with a range of competitive sporting activities and taster sessions taking place.

The Merseyside Community Youth Games provides sporting opportunities to encourage children, regardless of social and environmental constraints, to get involved in sport so that they become fitter and feel better about themselves both physically and socially and to offer pathways to enable young people to improve their sporting performance and express themselves.

In partnership with relevant youth organisations that have a community focus, the Merseyside Community Youth Games has the following aims:

To encourage those young people within the community who are seen as socially excluded to engage in sport and cultural activities
To promote a sense of identity between participants and the community they represent
To develop sporting and social links for young people outside of their own community
To promote sporting and cultural activity regardless of social and environmental constraints
To develop and encourage participation, training and coaching
To offer pathways to enable young people to improve their sporting performance and express themselves through the arts
To provide a multi activity event that will profile the potential of the participants
