The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games gives the whole of the Country
a unique opportunity to be part of the World's greatest celebration. It
also provides a catalyst to increased levels of participation, increased number
of quality coaches, people wanting to volunteer in sport and raising the whole
profile of sport and physical activity across the Country.
The North West has created a 2012 Legacy framework that sets out how the region
will use the inspiration of the 2012 Games to increase levels of sports participation,
improve recognition of volunteers, drive up standards in the NW's tourism industry,
build on the region's vibrant and engaging cultural life, and increase the
competitiveness of the region's businesses.
The North West has a number of legacy themes, areas where opportunities through
the Games have been identified.
